1983
• Joseph H. Kohnen and two partners founded Summit Software, Inc. on October 24, 1983 in Fort Wayne, IN.
1984
• Summit Software, Inc. had 4 employees working in a humble rented office space.
• Summit released v1.0 of Summit Grain Accounting©.
1986
• Summit Software, Inc. acquired Petrolac© from DP Services.
• Summit released v1.0 of Summit Ag Accounting©.
1991
• In November, Bruce Ringrose came aboard Summit Software, Inc. as part owner.
1993
• Summit Software, Inc. celebrated its 10th anniversary and was 10 employees strong.
• In May, Mark Kempfer came aboard Summit Software, Inc. as part owner.
1995
• Summit released v1.0 of Summit C-Store©.
1999
• On January 1, 1999, Summit launched first Web presence at www.summit-soft.com.
2000
• After redirecting their programming department by changing language technology from RM to Acu Cobol, Summit performed the first installation of the Flexus version of Summit Fixed Assets©.
2001
• On January 1, 2001, Summit launched first customer Web site.
• On July 7, 2001, Summit owners Joseph H. Kohnen, Bruce Ringrose and Mark Kempfer broke ground on its new future building and headquarters.
• In March, Summit hosted the first User Group Member Training Conference (UGMTC) for all users of Summit Grain Accounting©, Summit Ag Accounting©, Petrolac© and Summit C-Store©. The software user education conference was held downtown Fort Wayne at the Chamber of Commerce and had an enormously successful turnout of 215 attendees.
2002
• Summit released first graphical versions of Summit A/P©, G/L© and Payroll©.
• On January 18, the 18 employees of Summit Software, Inc. moved from 5950 Stellhorn Road to the new headquarters building at 4242 Flagstaff Cove.
• In February, Summit received WANE televisions' esteemed "Outstanding Business of the Month" award. The award was given by cosponsors News Channel 15, STAR Financial Bank and the Fort Wayne Chamber of Commerce.
• In March, Summit hosted its second User Group Member Training Conference for users of Summit Grain Accounting© and Summit Ag Accounting© at the Fort Wayne Marriott.
2003
• Summit Software, Inc. and its 22 employees celebrated 20 years in business.
• Summit released its first graphical versions of Summit Grain© and Ag© Accounting.
• Taking a new approach to the User Group Member Training Conference, 44 intimate in-house training events were hosted throughout the year for all Summit software users.
• In August, Summit installed its first ACU version of Fixed Assets© product at Kankakee Valley Propane Services.
2004
• Summit released graphical v10.2 of Summit Grain Accounting© and Summit Ag Accounting©.
• Tightening their focus to best empower their software users, Summit hosted 21 unique in-house training events during 2004 for Summit's users.
• In July, Summit Software, Inc. and TAKGroup, a leading eBusiness and Internet technology solutions company, announced a partnership to provide their joint customers with the ability to fully integrate their financial data with their eCommerce Web sites. D. Jeffery Keiser, CPA, CFO of Paulson Oil Company, Inc. in Chesterton, IN was the first Summit customer to take advantage of the new alliance.
2005
• Summit announced development a Credit Card Reconciliation Subsystem and an EFT/ACH Subsystem for A/R for Petrolac© v10.10.
• Summit announced creation of an Emergency After Hours Support phone line.
• In June, Summit Software, Inc. announced the addition business consulting services for its customers in need of in-depth, internal management procedure analysis and improvement.
• In August, Summit held its first UGMTC outside of Fort Wayne, Indiana. The 3-day event was held at The Quarterage Hotel in Kansas City, MO and produced 69 attendees. In addition, Summit offered 15 UGMTC session in-house to 99 attendees.
2006
• Throughout the year, Summit hosted 14 different UGMTC sessions for Summit users.
2007
• Summit Software, Inc. was nominated by Tower Bank for the NE Indiana Better Business Bureau’s 2007 Torch Award for Marketplace Ethics.
• In March, Summit cosponsored a Renewable Fuels Forum at the NE IN Innovation Center along with OnCallPSN, Barrett & McNagny LLP, Crowe, Ethanol Producer Magazine and Biodiesel Magazine.
• In May, due to the high demand for their products and services, Summit Software, Inc. announced an aggressive expansion plan to add 13 developers to their Product Development Department. The expansion was to allow for further specialiation of Summit's five product development teams for the biofuels, grain, agribusiness, petroleum distribution and convenience stores markets.
• In April, Summit announced development of its new AgWorks Interface and Ag Accounting Fertilizer Front-End Subsystem.
• In August, Summit held its 7th Annual UGMTC at the Holiday Inn Select international Airport Hotel in Indianapolis, IN. The 3-day event brought out 52 customer attendees.
2008
• Summit released graphical v10.2 of Petrolac© and Summit C-Store©.
• Summit Software, Inc. and its 48 employees celebrated 25 years in business.
• Summit Software, Inc. was nominated by Tower Bank for the NE Indiana Better Business Bureau’s 2007 Torch Award for Marketplace Ethics.
