| Servers

| We recommend that you upgrade your server every 5-6 years to prevent untimely system crashes and data loss. Budget by doing research now to prepare for your server upgrade! If you do not plan ahead, your disaster recovery plan options are extremely limited if your server dies. It takes approximately 2 weeks days to reorder a server, which is a very risky position for mission-critical business environments to run in. Contact Hardware Support with any questions about upgrading your server. |

| Printers |

There are thousands of printers available in today’s market. Our Hardware/Technical Support Department has developed a tested list of Summit-compatible printers that also offer you the best TCO. We cannot guarantee results with unsupported printers.
Instead of purchasing one multi-purpose printer for the entire office and changing out forms based on the print job, we highly recommend purchasing different printers for dedicated purposes. This will prevent staff from accidentally printing on expensive forms. A common purchase scenario would be to buy a P2015 for special forms and checks, plus a P3005 or 4250 for high volume printing.
To acquire pricing and specific model numbers, contact Dick Young – Manager of Hardware/Technical Support – at dick@summit-soft.com or 800.433.5724 x44. Also contact Dick if you want to explore other possible options to satisfy your specific situations. |
For light duty printers (15,000 PPM), we recommend the P2015. It is a replacement for the 1300 series and is great for dedicated printers (checks, forms, etc).
For medium duty printers (100,000 PPM), we recommend the new P3005 line. For most jobs, this printer will serve as a great centralized printer. |
For heavy duty printers, the 4250 is a great choice (200,000 PPM). Even if you do not meet the PPM duty cycle, keep in mind that the duty cycle is a reflection of the printer’s ruggedness and it impacts the life expectancy of the printer. The larger the duty cycle, the longer the life expectancy and reliability of the printer. |

We still support most dot matrix printers and printers that support PCL. We recommend 300 and 500 series Okidata dot matrix printers in most printing situations where dot matrix is appropriate. |
